Booking, cancellation and refund policy

Deposits
- Recording sessions: $20 per booking.
- Mixing: $20 per song. One song is $20, two songs are $40, three songs are $60, and so on.
- Mastering: no deposit is taken through the website. We reply by email.
Every deposit counts toward the final balance for that service. For example, a 2-hour recording session ($50) with its $20 deposit leaves a $30 balance, and a 2-song Vocal Mix ($100) with its $40 deposit leaves a $60 balance. The balance is arranged with the studio. Your deposit and remaining balance are shown before you pay.
When a booking is confirmed
A booking is confirmed only after your deposit is verified. Until then, a recording time is held for you but it is not confirmed.
- Card: verified automatically by our payment processor, Stripe. A recording time is held for 40 minutes while you pay.
- Cash App, Zelle or cash: verified by the studio. A recording time is held for 24 hours. If we cannot verify the deposit in that time, the hold is released and the time may be given to someone else.
Clicking a payment link, or telling us you have paid, does not confirm a booking. We confirm it once the deposit is verified, and the confirmation shows on your booking page.
Refunds
Recording sessions
The deposit is nonrefundable after your session is confirmed, except when BEF Studios cancels the session or a refund is legally required.
Mixing
Mixing deposits are non-refundable once work has begun on the song, subject to our posted policy and applicable law.
If we cancel, or we could not confirm your booking
If BEF Studios cancels, you may choose a refund of your deposit in full or a new time. Card refunds go back to the original card. If your deposit was taken but your booking could not be confirmed (for example, the recording time was no longer available), we will reschedule you or refund the deposit.
Rescheduling a recording session
You may reschedule a recording session once, with at least 24 hours' notice before the session start time. Email with your reference number. The new time is subject to availability. A second change is treated as a cancellation.
Late cancellations and no-shows
Cancelling a recording session with less than 24 hours' notice, or not showing up for it, forfeits the deposit.
Mastering
Mastering requests are not booked by time slot. We reply by email to confirm the details, and any deposit for mastering is stated in that email.
